The aims of the Introduction Module are to initiate the student into the realm of Clinical Hypnotherapy by reviewing the history of hypnosis and evaluating the uses of hypnosis in current times.
We explore the link between the foundation of hypnotic practice and the more recent field of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). The style of hypnosis taught by the college combines Ericksonian work and NLP, as the field of NLP was distilled, in large part, from the work of world renowned hypnotherapist Milton Erickson, gestalt therapist Fritz Pearls and family therapist Virginia Satir.
The student is introduced to the terms and meanings common to hypnosis and NLP. They are taught a basic understanding of the key elements of the workings of both the conscious and unconscious mind and given an understanding of how they work interactively. The students are taught the basic elements of hypnotic language and basic skills of observation and calibration necessary to practice hypnosis. They are taught to practice basic induction; observe and appropriately use NLP representational systems – whether visual, auditory or kinaesthetic; understand eye accessing cues; NLP presuppositions; calibration skills; trance deepeners and re-orientation skills. In addition the students utilise a variety of scripts and trance styles as their hypnosis tools. This Module covers the basic foundations and knowledge of hypnotherapy and NLP.
