Students are introduced to the concepts of normal and abnormal behaviour and counselling. This module combines the various models and methods we have been developing during the first 3 modules with the strong theoretical construct of Neuro Linguistic Programming to provide the skills required to be an effective counsellor.
Through a study of selected counselling models and techniques, including energy meridian work, students learn to apply skills for facilitating the helping relationship. They learn how to effectively interact with others; how to offer others more choice; how to be flexible; how to construct metaphors and to respond appropriately to people in ways that honour their individuality.
Students participate in consultation practice activities by applying the principles to develop a strong set of skills so they are able to clearly identify role states, and employ anchoring patterns, contextual markers, and reframing tools to achieve successful change.
Hypnotherapy is still emphasised as a simple and elegant tool for change to which are added the various NLP patterns for change. The module is supported by an extensive reading program, 20 hours of supervised clinical practice and case studies.
Completion of these 4 modules provides an exit point from the course with a Certificate IV in Neuro - Linguistic Programming.
